Sandipani Rishikul
Sandipani Vidyaniketan includes a Rishikul (named Babadeshwar Sanskrit Mahavidyalay), which provides Vedic education in Sanskrit, a system inspired by our early Rishis (sages) based on the close relationship between the Guru (teacher) and disciple.
Pujya Bhaishri believes that for goodness to prevail, moral values need to be intact and imbibed. This is possible only if our scriptures and epics are kept alive and are referred to time and again to understand moral and human values. Most of our scriptures are primarily in Sanskrit. To understand them accurately, it is important to learn Sanskrit and keep it alive.

Students of Sandipani Rishikul
With this mission in mind, Sandipani Rishikul was commenced which would produce proficient students, not necessarily just Brahmins, with the following qualities:
The importance of cows
- Well-educated in all subjects especially Sanskrit and Grammar.
- Having consummate knowledge of the Vedas.
- Able to conduct one’s life with niyam (discipline) and saiyam (restraint).
- Not a ‘seller’ but a ‘distributor’ of knowledge.
- Become an ambassador for teaching, inculcating and spreading the Vedic cultural heritage to induce human values.
Students at Rishikul are called Rishikumars. Rishikumars are taught the essential values of hard work, restraint and discipline in an open and natural environment, away from urban areas. The lush, natural setting of Sandipani feels as if one has been transported back to a time when great Indian saints taught their pupils deep in the grandeur of untamed nature. Yet the buildings around are as modern as the current times.
Sandipani Rishikul imparts education to students from Standard 9 to 12, followed by BA and post-graduation at MA level. Graduates are called Shāstris and post graduates Āchāryas’ The total number of students has increased from 80 in 1992 to 306 in 2017.
Subjects from Standard 9 to MA include Sanskrit with emphasis on Grammar, study of scriptures, sandhyopāsanā (worship performed in the morning and at dawn), Astrology, Philosophy and Music along with other extra-curricular activities and management skills.
Students gain knowledge not only of Vedas and Upanishadas but also of English and subjects like Mathematics, modern Science, Computers, Arts and Craft and Music.

Rishikumars at Sandipani Vidyaniketan lead a very austere life and adopt an extremely simple way of living with no special attachments for material requirements. They are totally dependent on themselves and self-reliant in executing their daily routines, under the supervision of the housemaster, who is solely responsible for their wellbeing and upbringing.
It is like a large family living together harmoniously, on the move to achieve the common goal of preparing themselves to serve humanity.
The Rishikumars are well brought up in an environment that is conducive to both their physical and mental growth. Each day is filled with activities that challenge them, helping them develop their talents. An organised schedule of timed events of their typical day is shown below:

On a Sunday that falls on a holiday, films like Mahabharat based on our scriptures or our History are shown after dinner. On these days in the morning, cleaning of the hostel and Sandipani Vidyaniketan is also carried out.
While strictly on time for each activity the students also complete their daily chores of washing their clothes, making their beds, cleaning their rooms and helping in maintaining a neat and orderly campus. Totally devoted to the upbringing of society, theirs is a life of commitment and dedication.
The uniform comprises of a comfortable, traditional Indian dress of white kurta and dhoti with an orange upavastra. The students adorn their forehead with a paste made from chandan and kumkum called tilak.
At Sandipani Rishikul, the philosophy of service is embedded into the teaching process in a way that prepares the graduate from the institute to have a mind-set of spreading the divine message.
The students of Sandipani are ambassadors of the Indian culture and their aim is to go into social communities and contribute to its progress. It is not only academic knowledge that drives the Sandipani Rishikumars, but also the immense practical exposure to serving humanity as they learn from their experiences while they grow at the Vidyaniketan. Service isn’t a special way of behaving; it is the regular conduct of the Rishikumars to volunteer to offer help to whosoever requires it.
The skills the Rishikumars gain are further enhanced through various extra-curricular activities and management of events and festivals at Sandipani.
With Pujya Bhaishri as their mentor, Rishikumars are exposed to excellent guidance during their time of education at Sandipani. Just as Pujya Bhaishri influences millions of devotees in understanding The Supreme Essence, he has also been instrumental in invoking faith for the Almighty in the minds of his students at the Vidyaniketan.

The basis of education at Sandipani Rishikul is primarily Sanskrit with faculties for learning Grammar and Veda. The knowledge of grammar is considered most important since Sanskrit is a language of vibration and reverberation, the pronunciation of which is designed to bring positive effects into the body and the soul of a person. Sanskrit in the modern context, has been acclaimed as the most scientific language.
Great emphasis is laid on teaching Panini's grammar at Sandipani as that is known to be the most difficult. Students become so adept in Sanskrit that ‘Shāstrārtha’ (debates) amongst themselves go on for hours.
The syllabus followed is that of the Gujarat Board followed by Gandhinagar, Somnath Sanskrit Univeristy and Verawal.
